Why Maintenance Matters
Prevent Breakdowns Before They Happen
Your garage door is the largest moving object in your home, and it runs thousands of cycles every year. A yearly tune-up from Bo Knows Garage Doors catches worn parts early, keeps everything running smoothly, and helps you avoid a surprise breakdown on a cold Kentucky morning.

Real Jobs. Real Results.

Fewer Emergency Repairs
Loose hardware and worn rollers are simple to fix early. Left alone, they can turn into broken springs and off-track doors.
Longer Door Life
Proper lubrication and balance reduce strain on your springs, cables, and opener so every part lasts longer.
Safer Operation
We test the auto-reverse and safety sensors so your door stops and reverses the way it should around kids, pets, and vehicles.
A Quieter Door
Squeaking, grinding, and rattling usually mean dry or worn parts. A tune-up often makes a noisy door run quiet again.
What’s Included in a Tune-Up
Every tune-up is done by Bo personally. Here’s what we inspect and adjust on your visit.
01.
Springs + Balance
We inspect your springs for wear, rust, and gaps, then check door balance so your opener isn’t overworking. If a spring is near the end of its life, we’ll tell you before it breaks. Learn about our spring repair service.
02.
Lubrication
We lubricate springs, hinges, rollers, and bearings with a garage door rated lubricant to cut down on friction, noise, and wear.
03.
Rollers, Hinges + Tracks
We check rollers and hinges for wear, inspect tracks for bends or misalignment, and tighten hardware that vibrates loose over time.
04.
Cables + Bottom Seal
We inspect lift cables for fraying and check the bottom weather seal that keeps out water, drafts, and pests.
05.
Opener Check
We test your opener’s force settings, travel limits, and drive system, and make sure your remotes and keypad work reliably. See our opener services.
06.
Safety Testing
We test the photo-eye sensors and auto-reverse feature so the door stops and reverses if anything is in its path.
Garage Door Maintenance Lexington KY Homeowners Rely On
Most garage doors should be serviced once a year. If your door is used many times a day or your system is older, twice a year is a smart schedule. Kentucky’s hot, humid summers and freezing winters make metal parts expand and contract, which wears down springs, cables, and rollers faster than most homeowners expect.
Call us for a tune-up if your door is noisy, moves in a jerky or uneven way, opens slower than it used to, sags on one side, or reverses before it closes. These are early warning signs that are much cheaper to address now than after something breaks.
If we find a part that needs replacing, we’ll show you the problem and give you the full price before any work begins. No pressure and no surprise invoices. If your door needs more than a tune-up, see our garage door repair in Lexington or request a free estimate.

common questions
FAQ'S
How often should my garage door be serviced?
Once a year for most homes. If your door gets heavy daily use or your system is older, twice a year is a good idea.
What’s the difference between a tune-up and a repair?
A tune-up is preventive. We inspect, lubricate, adjust, and test the whole system. A repair fixes something that’s already broken. If we find a problem during a tune-up, we’ll quote it before doing any work.
Can I maintain my garage door myself?
You can keep the tracks clean, test the auto-reverse monthly, and watch for warning signs. Leave springs, cables, and tension adjustments to a trained technician. Those parts are under dangerous tension.
What are signs my door needs service?
Grinding or squeaking, jerky movement, a door that sags or closes unevenly, slow operation, or a door that reverses on its own. Any of these means it’s time for a check.
Do you service commercial doors?
Yes. We maintain and repair commercial overhead doors for shops, warehouses, and service businesses.
What areas do you serve?
Lexington and Central Kentucky, including Nicholasville, Georgetown, Winchester, Richmond, Versailles, and Paris. See all of our service areas.
